How to Create Your Own Template?

Create your own templates with few steps! Customized templates improve the look of the presentation and standard design language which you can create by yourself.

Set up the look
  1. Go to the Design tab.
  2. Go to Fonts/Colors/Effects/ Background styles.
  3. Edit them according to your presentation need.

When you want all the slides in your PowerPoint presentation to have the same look, use the Slide Master to save time and effort. Before starting with editing slide master you can format the background and various design elements.

Format the background

To change your presentation background,

  1. Go to the Design tab.
  2. Select Format background.
It will show 4 types of style (Solid color, Gradient, Picture or texture, Pattern fill)
  3. Select one from above and adjust Transparency. (Optional)
  4. Hit Apply to all.

Alternatively, you can right click on a free area on a slide (an area that doesn’t contain an object) and then select Format Background from there.

Create a Slide Master

With the slide master, you can keep space, fonts, and styles, multimedia, and insert footnotes constant which will affect all the slides in the presentation.

  1. Go to View tab.
  2. Select Slide Master.  Select Master Slide Master or Hit alt+W+M
  3. Click on the Master Slide. (or the slide you want to adjust)
  4. Select the Parent slide (Bigger slide) in the slide panel.
  5. The changes will translate to each of the slides in the theme.
  6. You can see how your changes impact the rest of the slides so you can edit your design till you get it right.
  7. Once you’ve made all your changes to the slide master, select Slide Master > Close Master View to return to the presentation slides.

It’s a good idea to edit your slide master and layout masters before you start to create individual slides. That way, all the slides that you add to your presentation are based on your custom edits. If you edit the slide master or layout masters after you create individual slides, you’ll need to reapply the changed layouts to the existing slides in your presentation in Normal view.
